This Bible book basically covers a period of some 330 years between Israel conquest of Canaan and the beginning of the monarchy. The book of Judges is linked with the preceding Bible book (Joshua) by its opening word’s, “After the death of Joshua _ _ _ _.

The introduction of Judges having drawn on events taking place before and after Joshua’s death in order to provide the historical background for the account that follows Chapter One through Chapter Three verse six serves as an introduction. Chapter Three verse seven relates to the thirteen judges in chronological order through Chapter Sixteen.

The last part of the book could be termed an appendix about the capture of Laish by the Danites (17:1-18:31) and the mass sex crime of the men of Gibeah and subsequent events resulting in the near extermination of the tribe of Benjamin. (19:1-21:25)

The Last two Judges is an extension by the Zayas Study Series: Eli priest and judge (I Sam 1:3-4:18) and Samuel Prophet and Judge (I Sam 1:20-10:27)
